Ka-Sushi: taking a sushi kitchen online

Ka-Sushi makes sushi to order in High River, Alberta. It had no website, so I refreshed the logo, then designed and built an online shop with the full menu.

A full menu, and nowhere to see it.

Ka-Sushi makes sushi to order in High River, Alberta: rolls, trays, platters and ramen. Before this project, it had no website.

Customers had no way to browse the menu or order ahead online.

Same colours, a sharper logo.

I kept the red, white and black and the brush circle, then redrew the mark so it holds up at any size. A pair of chopsticks now runs under a new wordmark.

Food first, cart one tap away.

The homepage opens on four categories, then the most popular rolls, each with its price and an add to cart button.

Made for ordering on a phone.

On a phone, the header shrinks to the logo, cart and menu, the rolls sit two to a row, and the menu opens one section at a time.

From no website to an online shop.

Ka-Sushi now has a home online, with the full menu, prices, hours and an online shop on WooCommerce.

My main takeaway: for a restaurant, the site should get out of the way of the food. Big photos, clear prices, and the cart always in reach.
